About Vancouver YVR

Canada’s Pacific gateway —
mountains at the runway’s edge.

Vancouver International Airport (YVR / CYVR) is Canada’s second-busiest airport and its primary Pacific gateway — the entry and departure point for trans-Pacific routes connecting western Canada to Asia, Australia, and the broader Pacific Rim. Situated on Sea Island in Richmond, 25 minutes south of downtown Vancouver, YVR combines full intercontinental aircraft capability with a setting that is, by any measure, among the most dramatic of any major airport in North America — snowcapped Coast Mountains visible from the apron, the Fraser River delta to the south.

For private jet clients, YVR offers a well-developed FBO ecosystem with multiple operators providing dedicated private terminal handling, expedited Canadian Customs and Border Services processing, and direct landside access to downtown Vancouver. The airport serves as both a destination in its own right — for Whistler, the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and Vancouver’s luxury hospitality and real estate market — and as an intercontinental transit point, particularly for clients routing between Asia and eastern Canada or the US Pacific Northwest.

Seletar Private Aviation’s Singapore base makes us particularly well-positioned for YVR bookings on the Asia-Pacific axis. The Singapore–Vancouver corridor is among our most requested transcontinental routes — operated on ultra-long-range aircraft via a fuel stop in Tokyo or non-stop on Global 7500 — and we have active handling relationships at both YVR FBOs that serve private aviation.

Why Vancouver YVR

What makes Vancouver the destination
and the gateway.

01
Asia-Pacific trans-Pacific hub
YVR is the closest major Canadian airport to Asia and handles more trans-Pacific capacity than any other Canadian gateway. For private jet clients routing between Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Seoul and western Canada, Vancouver is the natural first or last stop — closer by nearly two hours of flight time than Toronto on Pacific-origin routing.
02
Whistler & Sea-to-Sky access
Whistler Blackcomb — consistently ranked among the world’s top ski resorts — is two hours from YVR via the Sea-to-Sky Highway. The entire corridor from West Vancouver through Squamish to Whistler is among North America’s most spectacular drives. For clients where the helicopter transfer is preferred, Whistler Airport accepts rotary-wing arrivals.
03
Two established FBO operators
YVR is served by Signature Aviation and Skyservice FBO — both operating dedicated private terminals with full FBO services, CBSA customs and immigration processing, and 24-hour handling capability. We select the appropriate FBO for your aircraft type and coordinate all handling as standard on every Vancouver booking.
04
Pacific Northwest regional hub
Vancouver serves as the natural hub for Pacific Northwest private aviation — connecting easily to Victoria (YYJ), Kelowna (YLW), Kamloops (YKA), and the BC Interior, as well as US destinations including Seattle (BFI), Portland (PDX), and San Francisco (SFO). Multi-leg BC itineraries and transborder Pacific Northwest programmes are a regular part of our service.
05
Luxury real estate & HNW market
Vancouver is consistently ranked among the world’s most expensive real estate markets — driven significantly by Asia-Pacific high-net-worth investor and residential demand. Private jet traffic on the Singapore–Vancouver, Hong Kong–Vancouver, and Tokyo–Vancouver corridors reflects this connection directly, with Seletar’s Asia-based network providing particularly relevant access to this client base.
06
Full intercontinental capability
YVR’s 3,505 m primary runway handles all private aircraft categories — including ultra-long-range jets at full fuel loads on trans-Pacific sectors. Gulfstream G700, Global 7500, and Falcon 8X all operate at YVR without restriction. The airport’s 24-hour operations support early-morning arrivals from Pacific sectors without curfew constraints.

Vancouver Region Destinations

Where YVR takes you —
city, mountain, island, and interior.

YVR is the entry point for one of North America’s most diverse luxury travel regions — from downtown Vancouver’s waterfront hotels and restaurants through to Whistler’s alpine village, the Gulf Islands, and the wine country of the Okanagan. We arrange all ground transport as part of every booking.

City
Downtown Vancouver
Coal Harbour, Yaletown, Gastown, and the West End — Vancouver’s glass-tower waterfront skyline backed by the North Shore mountains. Home to some of Canada’s finest dining, the Fairmont Pacific Rim, Four Seasons, and Rosewood Hotel Georgia. The city’s residential market attracts significant Asia-Pacific private capital.
25 min by road  ·  26 min Canada Line SkyTrain

Ski Resort
Whistler Blackcomb
North America’s largest ski resort by skiable terrain — two mountains, over 200 runs, and the Whistler Village alpine experience. Peak winter season runs December through March; summer offers mountain biking, hiking, and the Crankworx festival. The Four Seasons Whistler and Fairmont Chateau Whistler anchor the luxury accommodation market.
2 hr via Sea-to-Sky Highway (Hwy 99)

Island & Vineyard
Victoria & Vancouver Island
British Columbia’s capital — a compact, walkable city with a strong English-heritage character, the Fairmont Empress on the Inner Harbour, and world-class whale-watching. Victoria Airport (YYJ) is 30 minutes from downtown Victoria; the BC Ferries crossing from Tsawwassen is 1.5 hours. A natural 1–2 night extension from a Vancouver arrival.
YYJ: 30 min flight from YVR

Wine Country
Okanagan Valley
Canada’s premier wine region — Kelowna, Penticton, and Oliver producing internationally recognised Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Kelowna Airport (YLW) is a 45-minute domestic sector from YVR. Mission Hill, Quails’ Gate, and Summerhill Pyramid Winery anchor the luxury wine tourism experience.
YLW: 45 min domestic sector from YVR

Wilderness
Tofino & Pacific Rim
Tofino on Vancouver Island’s west coast — a world-class surf and wilderness destination with luxury lodging at the Wickaninnish Inn. The Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, ancient cedar rainforest, and grey whale migration corridor make Tofino one of Canada’s most distinctive premium travel experiences.
Tofino Airport (YAZ): 1 hr domestic from YVR

Gulf Islands
Salt Spring & Gulf Islands
The Gulf Islands — Salt Spring, Galiano, Saturna, and the Pender Islands — offer a quieter, more intimate British Columbia experience. Artist studios, organic farms, and the celebrated Saturday Market on Salt Spring Island attract a discerning, low-profile visitor. Several islands have private airstrips or seaplane access.
Seaplane from downtown Vancouver — 20–35 min

Mountain Town
Squamish & Sea-to-Sky
The Sea-to-Sky corridor between Vancouver and Whistler — including Squamish, Garibaldi Provincial Park, and Shannon Falls — is one of the most spectacular road transfers in North America. The Stawamus Chief rock face and Squamish Spit are world destinations for climbing and kiteboarding respectively.
1 hr from YVR via Sea-to-Sky Highway

Cross-Border
Seattle & Pacific Northwest US
Seattle (Boeing Field / BFI) is a 30-minute private jet sector from YVR — easily combined into a single Pacific Northwest itinerary. Portland (PDX), San Francisco (SFO), and the US Pacific Coast are all within a 2-hour private jet radius. Cross-border transborder customs and CBSA coordination managed as standard.
BFI Seattle: 30 min private jet sector

FBO & Ground Handling

What we coordinate at YVR
on every arrival and departure.

YVR’s two FBO operators — Signature Aviation and Skyservice — both provide full private aviation terminal services with dedicated Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) processing on-site. We select the appropriate FBO based on your aircraft type, origin routing, and handling preferences, and pre-coordinate all elements from slot filing through to ground transport timing.

For trans-Pacific arrivals from Asia, we coordinate advance CBSA notification and ensure all passengers have the appropriate Canadian entry documentation — eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for visa-exempt nationals or a valid visa for others. Clients arriving on transcontinental sectors from the US with NEXUS pre-clearance benefit from the fastest processing route. We brief all passengers on documentation requirements as part of the booking process.

FBO selection & slot coordination
Signature Aviation or Skyservice selected and pre-briefed based on your aircraft type and handling requirements. Arrival and departure slots confirmed with YVR ATC and the assigned FBO ahead of the movement date.
Canadian CBSA customs & immigration
Canada Border Services Agency processing at the FBO private terminal — passengers clear Canadian customs and immigration without commercial terminal exposure. Advance passenger and crew manifests submitted to CBSA ahead of arrival as required. eTA requirements briefed for all visa-exempt nationalities.
Trans-Pacific arrival coordination
For Asia-origin trans-Pacific sectors (Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul), we pre-coordinate CBSA advance notification, confirm fuel uplift with the operator, and brief crew on Canadian entry requirements. Late-night or early-morning Pacific arrivals handled without disruption — YVR operates 24 hours.
Passenger meet-and-greet
Dedicated ground team at the FBO meets your party on arrival. Baggage transferred directly from aircraft to vehicles without commercial terminal exposure. Catering, ground transport, and hotel liaison confirmed against your block time.
Catering to specification
In-flight catering arranged through YVR-based providers — Pacific Northwest produce, Canadian seafood (BC spot prawns, Pacific salmon), and international menus available. Orders placed against confirmed departure time, typically 4–6 hours minimum for full meal service.
Ground transport & Whistler transfers
Chauffeur transfers from YVR to downtown Vancouver (25 min), West Vancouver, North Vancouver, or the Sea-to-Sky Highway corridor to Whistler (2 hr). Helicopter transfers to Whistler arranged on request. Canada Line SkyTrain coordination for clients preferring rail — 26 minutes to Waterfront Station downtown.

YVR FBO Infrastructure

Handling facilities and services
at Vancouver International.

YVR is served by two established FBO operators providing competitive private aviation services. We maintain active relationships with both and select the most appropriate facility for each booking based on aircraft category, origin routing, and client requirements.

FBO — Option A
Signature Aviation YVR
Signature Aviation’s YVR facility provides a full-service private terminal with CBSA customs and immigration, passenger lounge, conference facilities, fuel, and aircraft handling. Part of the global Signature network — preferred by many international operators for its consistent worldwide service standards and pre-established handling relationships.

FBO — Option B
Skyservice FBO
Skyservice is a Canadian-origin FBO operator with deep YVR roots and strong relationships with the local handling and customs ecosystem. Full private terminal, CBSA processing, executive lounge, and fuelling. A preferred choice for BC-origin and domestic Canadian sector operations given the local institutional knowledge.

Customs & Immigration
Canada Border Services Agency
CBSA processes all private aviation arrivals at both FBOs — fully separate from commercial terminal customs. Advance passenger manifests (PAXLST / APIS) submitted on your behalf. eTA documentation briefed for all visa-exempt international passengers. Trans-Pacific arrivals from Asia coordinated with CBSA advance notification.

Fuel
Jet-A & Avgas Uplift
Jet-A fuel available at both FBOs through established fuel suppliers. Vancouver fuel pricing is moderate by North American standards. Tankering considerations for US-origin sectors where US fuel pricing advantages apply are evaluated and factored into all-in quote pricing where relevant.

Catering
Pacific Northwest In-Flight Catering
In-flight catering through YVR-approved providers — Pacific Northwest ingredients including BC spot prawns, Pacific salmon, Vancouver Island Dungeness crab, and locally sourced seasonal produce. International menus and dietary accommodations available. Orders placed against confirmed departure time, minimum 4–6 hours for full meal service.

Ground Transport
Vancouver & Whistler Transfers
Chauffeur transfers to downtown Vancouver (25 min), West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Tsawwassen ferry terminal (45 min to Gulf Islands ferry), and the Sea-to-Sky Highway corridor. Whistler transfers (2 hr) arranged in luxury SUVs or vans. Helicopter transfers to Whistler coordinated on request for clients preferring air access to the resort.

FAQ

Questions about
Vancouver private aviation.

Can’t find your answer? Our team is available around the clock.

Ask a question

YVR is served by two main FBO operators: Signature Aviation and Skyservice. Both provide full private aviation terminal services with on-site CBSA customs and immigration processing. Signature is generally preferred for international trans-Pacific arrivals due to its global network familiarity; Skyservice is a strong choice for domestic Canadian and transborder US sectors given its local operational depth. We select and pre-brief the appropriate FBO for your aircraft and routing as part of every booking.

Citizens of visa-exempt countries — including Singapore, the UK, most EU nations, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and others — require a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for air arrivals. US citizens are exempt from the eTA requirement. Citizens of countries not on the visa-exempt list require a standard Canadian visitor visa. We brief all passengers on their specific documentation requirements as part of the booking process and confirm documentation compliance before departure.

The most common transfer from YVR to Whistler is by road via the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) — approximately two hours in normal conditions, longer in peak winter ski traffic. We arrange luxury SUV or van transfers timed to your block time. For clients preferring air transfer, helicopter connections from Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre or directly to Whistler Helipad can be arranged, cutting the transfer to approximately 30 minutes. We coordinate both options on request.

Singapore to Vancouver is approximately 8,400 nautical miles — achievable non-stop on a Bombardier Global 7500 at reduced payload. With a fuel stop in Tokyo (approximately 5 hours into the flight) or Anchorage, a Gulfstream G650 or G700 handles the sector at standard loads. The total sector time non-stop is approximately 16 hours eastbound. We assess range, payload, and routing options on every Singapore–Vancouver booking and recommend the most appropriate aircraft and fuel stop strategy.

The two primary peaks are the Whistler ski season (December through March, with the Christmas–New Year window being the most intense) and summer (July–August), when Vancouver’s outdoor lifestyle and conference calendar drives strong demand. The Vancouver International Film Festival (September–October) and the Celebration of Light fireworks competition (late July–early August) create smaller local demand spikes. We recommend 2–3 weeks advance booking during ski season and 1–2 weeks for most other periods.

Yes. Multi-leg BC itineraries are a regular part of our service — YVR arrival followed by a continuation to Kelowna (YLW) for the Okanagan, Tofino (YAZ) for the Pacific coast, or Victoria (YYJ) for Vancouver Island. All sectors are booked as a single programme. The Pilatus PC-12 and similar turboprops are ideal for the shorter BC sectors, combining full-facility FBO capability at YVR with access to smaller regional airports across British Columbia.

Excellent. Vancouver to Seattle is 30 minutes; Portland is 1 hour; San Francisco is 2 hours. A Pacific Northwest programme — Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco — is operationally straightforward as a 3–4 day itinerary on a midsize jet. Transborder customs coordination (CBSA and US Customs) is managed as standard. We have active handling relationships at all of these airports and regularly arrange multi-city Pacific Northwest programmes for both business and leisure clients.

Share your origin city, travel date, passenger count, and preferred departure window — we respond within 60 minutes with a curated aircraft shortlist and all-inclusive pricing.
